Boiler Operator I - Night Shift

Nudura Inc. is searching for a Boiler Operator in the Coaldale, Alberta area. This position performs routine checks on on-site boiler systems and utility equipment to keep equipment, systems, spaces, structures, and infrastructure in proper operating condition. Will also function as a part of the Operations team to assist with daily production needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform standard work in a safe manner by following all written and verbally communicated safety rules and procedures.
  • Perform basic production equipment maintenance work (cleaning, greasing, lubrication, etc.).
  • Inspect and monitor operations of the on-site boiler system, compressors, chillers, cooling tower, etc.
  • Perform boiler system water testing, changing of filters and filter carpets, and replenish boiler system chemicals.
  • Assist in identifying machine issues and reporting them to plant maintenance.
  • Recommend replenishment of boiler room supplies for inventory when the stock is low.
  • Document accurate maintenance activity records.
  • Clean and maintain assigned areas and tools to ensure proper functionality.
  • Cross-train on other production functions and provide assistance to production teams.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement process.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school.
  • Two to four years of related experience and/or training.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Must possess a valid 3rd Class/ 4th Class Operating Engineer ABSA Certificate.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • OSHA safety certification preferred.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of lockout/Tagout, arc flash requirements, confined space entry, and hot work permit.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed; ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond urgently to down equipment.
  • Effective team player, self-motivated, quick learner.
  • The Boiler Operator must be able to work independently.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • All production positions will be subjected to elevated temperatures in the warm/hot seasons.
  • All production employees are expected to work assigned overtime.
  • All production positions are subjected to loud noise.
