JOB SUMMARY

Intercontinental Truck Body is currently recruiting for an Emergency Vehicle Technician (“EVT”) who will service fleet vehicles and equipment. A current EVT or electrician with experience or an interest in learning emergency apparatus would be perfect for this role, and ITB will provide training and product familiarization to the right candidate. Reporting to the Service Manager, the right individual needs to be a self-starter, organized, with the ability to work with minimal supervision and excel in a team environment.

LOCATION

Our Coaldale, AB plant is located just off of highway 3 and is an easy commute from Lethbridge or Taber. We roughly have 140 employees and are continuing to expand.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Electrical inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of emergency apparatus systems including, but not limited to:
  • Indicators, emergency lights, warning lights, and scene lights
  • Sirens and PA speakers
  • In-vehicle video systems, communication radios, mobile computers, and communication antennas
  • General 12V automotive troubleshooting: wiring, fuses, relays, switches, and batteries
  • Familiarity with high-voltage systems and EVs would be an advantage
  • Diagnosis, repair, and install of all common truck and emergency vehicle hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Receive, plan for, and travel to assigned service call locations
  • Other broad and varied duties as assigned, related to service and support of emergency apparatus

  • Know and apply company safety rules, policies, and relevant occupational health and safety legislation
  • Work in a professional and ethical manner
  • Use of hand, power and air tools safely as required
  • Provide support for other departments as necessary
  • Properly fill out daily time sheets
  • Develop effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisors, always treating others with respect
  • Be receptive to a changing environment and circumstances
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • EVT Certification is considered an asset, but not mandatory – applicants would be expected to undergo certification within first year of employment
  • An understanding of NFPA standards is a very strong asset
  • Previous experience diagnosing, testing, servicing and/or repairing electrical equipment is mandatory
  • Detail oriented, dependable, punctual, safe, independent, reliable, amiable, driven, self-motivated
  • The successful candidate should be comfortable with occasional travel for training and customer service visits. Some after-hours or out-of-town work may be required for emergency service
  • Must be able to pass a local police/RCMP background check

WORKING HOURS AND CONDITIONS

  • Permanent full-time
  • Core hours are from 7:00am – 3:30pm

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Experience:

  • 12V Electrical: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • EVT Certification (preferred)
