LOCATION: Not site specific. Farmland is near all four feedlots which are located near Coaldale, Taber, and Stirling, AB.

REPORTS TO: Farm Manager
This position has a very flexible start date. Looking for the right fit, and understand that an applicant may need to finish out the season with their current employer.

JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of the Farm Operations Supervisor will be to assist the Farm Manager in overseeing daily farming operations. This includes ensuring efficient execution of all cultivating, planting, irrigating, chemical application, and harvesting activities. This role involves directing and monitoring these activities while maintaining accurate records of production, revenues, and expenses. The Farm Operations Supervisor will also operate farm equipment and fill in for team members as needed to ensure smooth farm operations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and Supervise Farming Activities: Oversee the scheduling and execution of all cultivating, planting, irrigating, chemical application and harvesting tasks.
- Monitor and Evaluate Performance: Continuously monitor farming activities to ensure compliance with best practices and productivity goals.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of production metrics, revenues, and expenses. Update and manage data within farming software programs.
- Operational Support: Operate farm machinery and equipment as required. Provide hands-on support in the field and fill in for team members when needed.
- Communication and Coordination: Work closely with the Farm Manager and farm team to ensure clear communication and efficient workflow.
- Inventory and Supplies Management: Assist in managing inventory levels of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and other farming supplies.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all farming activities comply with health, safety and environmental regulations.
EQUIPMENT:
The Farm Operations Supervisor will be required to operate many different types of machinery.
KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Farm Operations Supervisor will frequently communicate with the farming crew to coordinate work. Regular communication with the Farm Manager and Agronomist is essential. Occasional communication with office staff and other managers will be required.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Post-secondary education in a related field is preferred.
- Experience working in the agriculture and farming industry required.
TRAINING:
- On-the-job training will be provided, as needed.
- Additional training may also be provided, as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Farm Operations Supervisor generally works 50 hours per week but may be required to work additional hours during peak seasons. The schedule is subject to change to meet organizational needs, especially during busy farming periods. The role involves both office work and fieldwork, with frequent exposure to environmental conditions such as sun, wind, rain, snow and varying temperatures.
BENEFITS:
Full-time, permanent incumbents of this position are eligible for company benefits programs including health, dental, vision, disability and life insurance benefits, after three months of employment. Company paid pension plan benefits are available after one year of employment. Additional benefits such as Service Awards may also be awarded.
REMUNERATION:
Remuneration for this position is based on experience and quality of work. Incumbents of this position accrue 4% vacation which may be taken as paid vacation time off or paid out (after 3 months) upon request.
