ABOUT US:

The Food Market is a small town grocery store located in Coaldale, Alberta, committed to offering excellent customer service to our close-knit community, supporting local farmers and small businesses all while striving to offer great products at fair prices.

STORE HOURS:

Monday – Saturday 8:30AM – 9:00PM, Sunday 9:00AM -6:00PM

The Food Market is looking for a Grocery Clerk/Cashier to work a variety of different shifts. We are seeking someone responsible, motivated, organized and punctual.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Handles customer concerns, special orders and ensures an appropriate resolution to store situations and inquiries
• Perform general cleaning duties, stock shelves, rotate product, and maintain merchandise displays, ensuring an organized stocked store.
• Provide exceptional customer service, assisting customers with their shopping experience. this includes carry-outs, price checks, break coverage, cash support as needed on till, and bagging customer purchases
• Operates machinery and equipment such as cardboard baler/compactor and manual floor jacks, safely and correctly
• Provide feedback to management on all products, inventory losses, scanning errors, and general issues
• Adhere to cash policies and procedures
• Comply with all established store policies and procedures while upholding the security and confidentiality of documents and data
• Other duties as assigned

JOB-TYPE

• 15 to 20 hours per week. Schedule will be consistent but some flexibility may be required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Retail floor and cashier experience an asset

PYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to stock merchandise from store receiving to shelving, placing product weighing up to 50+ pounds, on shelving at various heights
• Able to stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry and walk for duration of shift
• Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Provides prompt and courteous customer service
• Ability to operate a cash register/point of sales system efficiently and accurately
• Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures
• Confident in verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work both independently and within a team environment
• Able to evaluate and drive performance of self
• Able to stay organized, give attention to detail, follow instructions and multi-task in a professional and efficient manner
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Driver’s License preferred

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $15.00-$17.00 per hour
