Position Title: Floating Packaging Operator
Position Type: Regular – Full-Time

Summary: This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our packaging equipment, in cooperation with their other packaging team members. This employee will be required to take ownership of their assigned area and its output, ensure they take part in all planning and development activities within their team, and keep the area well maintained to delivery quality products to our customers.
Accountabilities:
- Efficiently sets up and operates the bagging machines to obtain maximum bags per minute.
- Monitors packaging waste and takes corrective action to minimize it.
- Ensure proper functioning of product scales.
- Troubleshoots all equipment malfunctions and escalates issues to the maintenance department when required.
- Willing and able to problem solve with the maintenance department.
- Completes all product changeovers including machine adjustments and switching from polyethylene film to paper.
- Ensures that the case packers (Blueprints) are set in such a fashion to satisfy production and quality requirements.
- Ensures that bags and cases are properly sealed, coded and maintain at or below giveaways target by product.
- Must be able to operate bag check weighers, case erectors, X-Ray/Metal Detector and case tapers.
- Maintain good housekeeping throughout the packaging area including 5S and other routinely scheduled tasks including Food Safety Audit and Equipment Asset Care.
- Maintains all required checks and documentation including entering SPC data as directed and written in job procedure.
- Validating CCP per procedure and documenting accordingly.
- Recognize food safety and workmanship concerns and calling them out to leadership immediately to be dealt with accordingly.
- Ability to consume packaging materials in SAP.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Mathematical ability to perform basic calculations.
- Must be familiar with product flow through packaging area.
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control software (OSI PI) and SAP data entry.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize efficiently using effective time management and organizational skills.
- Physically capable of performing all required duties including some heavy and/or repetitive lifting (up to 50lbs).
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to minimize performance issues.
- Willing to work and adapt to cold temperatures.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of Grade 12 education.
- Must have proven history of safe work habits.
- Must be willing to cross train in other areas.
- Must be willing to work in a team-based atmosphere.
- Must be willing to take Compactor Training.
- Successful completion of a 90-day familiarization period.
- Must be willing to work on any shift.
