Coaldale Chamber of Commerce: Working with Business for Business!
(Coaldale, AB) The Coaldale Chamber of Commerce has been working hard with the purpose of advancing its mission, bringing more value to its membership.
“There have been numerous strategic planning meetings over the past year”, comments René van de Vendel, President of the Coaldale Chamber. “The result of these meetings stimulated the revision of our organization, not only to increase service to our membership but to streamline the work that needs to be done to effectively execute our mission.”
As a result, six new sub-committees have been developed. These include a membership, local advocacy, political advocacy, community, events, and communications committee.
These committees benefit the Coaldale Chamber as it aims to diversify workload. It also provides an opportunity for members to participate more actively and serves as a venue to share ideas, observations and raise questions.
Advocacy is the Coaldale Chamber’s top priority. Leonard Fast, Corporate Secretary and chair of the Local Advocacy Committee states, “our role is to help out business wherever we can. If you are having issues or concerns and need somewhere to start, we can direct you to where you need to go or assist you in any way we can.”
Advocacy also has a role on the political stage, both on the provincial and national level. Working in the background is Director and Political Advocacy chair, Derek Connick. His role is to communicate with our government and other relevant organizations regarding business.
Heading up the Communications Committee as chair is Second VP, Jack Van Rijn. “With all the changes taking place, we wanted to utilize this opportunity to upgrade our brand into a modern design, incorporating a new slogan which represents the work done here at the Coaldale Chamber. As a group of business owners, representing other businesses in the greater Coaldale community, we wanted to reflect the Coaldale Chamber as a place where we work together for benefit of all business.” Van Rijn is pleased to announce the Chamber has a new logo and tagline: Working with business for business.
To promote its initiatives under one complete package, the Coaldale Chamber has developed a new website. This new site harnesses the essence of what they are hoping to achieve while providing members with tangible access to the Coaldale Chamber and all its services.
Several great services are offered both to Coaldale Chamber members as well as to the general Coaldale community. Helping to promote business, members can expect to experience an increase in marketing services along with a comprehensive list of exclusive discount services. Helping to build business is a job posting resource that can be used by any business and those seeking employment in the Coaldale area. Helping to grow your business is part of a shop-local campaign where businesses can submit a promotion or coupon which anyone can access.
To engage with the general community, Director and chair of the Community Committee, Daryl Tonin, is dedicated to promoting community activities in our great Town of Coaldale. Included on the new website are a list of activities for both youth and adults alike, such as sporting clubs and leisure clubs, complete with contact info. If community members want to have their organization added, they can reach out via the website. Also included is a list of a variety of volunteer opportunities. “If you are new to our ever-growing town or are wanting to develop new relationships with others, volunteering in Coaldale is a great way to do that!” exclaims Tonin.
Businesses are reminded that by becoming a member of the Coaldale Chamber, they can gain access to exclusive discounts, great networking opportunities, and other valuable services. First VP and chair of the Membership Committee, Terry Roosen, along with Executive Director, Colleen Van Raalte, will be reaching out to businesses starting in the fall. “The Chamber is here to help build, grow and promote your business and we want to share with you the various ways we hope to achieve this.”
Getting involved with the Coaldale Chamber is an excellent way to support and enhance the local business community. President van de Vendel points out, “when working together as a collective, it is our hope that we can more effectively execute our mission; to improve the economic, industrial, and civic life of the community through the development and promotion of free enterprise”. He also would like to thank members for their patience through this time of transition saying, “We have listened to your comments and have gained insight from other various groups. We just needed some time to put this all together. It is our goal to become an integral group who encourages growth within our business community. As always, we are here for our businesses and encourage them to reach out to us as needed”.
