Position Overview
This role requires operating a shunt truck to move tractor trailers to and from loading docks, maintaining schedules and ensuring the safety of the yard and dock area. It is crucial to execute these tasks in a safe manner and adhere to all company policies. The position demands dependability, a strong focus on safety, and substantial physical stamina.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure the work area is safe and report any unsafe conditions and/or acts immediately, keep yard clean and tidy.
- Strive to maintain exemplary levels of customer service.
- Inform both internal and external teams of any deviations from established processes, quality concerns, and service issues or potential risks in these areas.
- Operate and maintain yard equipment.
- Ensure safe movement of equipment in the yard and warehouse.
- Drop and hook tractor/shunt truck to trailer.
- Inspect truck for defects before and after trips, report condition.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and perform light repairs.
- Conduct pre-trip inspection on trailers.
- Execute logistics activities and monitor yard management.
- Control product flow in yard management system.
- Implement actions to maintain product flow.
- Follow procedures to ensure product quality (e.g., temperature, damages).
- Monitor trailer fuel levels, temperatures, and load status
- Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Work collaboratively within a team, follow directions, and adopt approved work methods.
- Perform all tasks in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain regular, reliable attendance and a high level of performance.
Additional Duties
- Assist with other operational activities as required.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
- Seek opportunities for improvement.
- Cross-train and provide coverage for team members planned time off.
- Work multiple shifts as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years’ experience preferred in related field.
- Class 3 or 5 licence with Q endorsement.
- Previous yard shunt experience preferred
Physical Demands:
- Must be in good physical condition, must be able to stand up to 4 consecutive hours/day, and sit/drive up to 10 hours per day.
- Must be able to lift/push/pull/carry up to 50 lbs repetitively, including overhead to floor, and floor to overhead lifting.
- Frequent bending/twisting
- Occasional climbing (stairs/ladders)
- Must be able to work effectively outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Occasional low level activity (kneeling/squatting) required.
- Walking outdoors on various terrains.

- This position is considered a safety sensitive position.
Tuesday – Saturday 2:00pm – 10:30pm
