Position Summary

The Youth Services Worker functions as part of the Community Services team to lead a variety of youth programs in the FCSS service area. The purpose of the programs are to support rural youth to complete meaningful civic service projects, gain leadership experience, and learn skills that will assist youth in their transition to adulthood.

Education and Qualifications

  • Education and experience in human services or youth related field, such as Social Work or Child and Youth Care.
  • Strong commitment to young people and an understanding of the factors affecting their lives.
  • An accepting, non-judgmental and non-authoritarian approach.
  • Ability to treat young people’s concerns with respect, tact, and sensitivity, while being aware of professional boundaries and the limits of confidentiality.

Client Support

  • Empower youth with positive mentorship to develop community-based initiatives.
  • Facilitate leadership development opportunities and workshops for youth participants.
  • Develop and lead programs and activities for youth, including indoor/outdoor drop-in events and summer leadership camps.
  • Provide ongoing social and emotional support to youth.
