COALDALE, AB – The Coaldale Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the launch of the new Coaldale Farmers’ Market — an exciting new community initiative designed to celebrate the very best of Southern Alberta through local growers, makers, bakers, artisans, and entrepreneurs.
Set in the heart of Coaldale at Civic Square Plaza, the market will create a vibrant outdoor gathering place where residents and visitors can shop local, discover unique handmade and homegrown products, enjoy fresh local food, and connect with the businesses and people that help make Southern Alberta thrive.
According to Robert Woolf, President of the Coaldale Chamber of Commerce, the Farmers’ Market is a natural extension of the Chamber’s commitment to strengthening the local economy and creating opportunities for business growth and regional collaboration.
“The Coaldale Chamber of Commerce exists to strengthen our local economy and encourage meaningful engagement,” says Woolf. “A Farmers’ Market aligns perfectly with our mission because it creates opportunities for local entrepreneurs, supports agriculture and small business, promotes tourism and community connection, and showcases the incredible talent and products found throughout Southern Alberta. This initiative is about more than just shopping local — it’s about creating a vibrant and welcoming experience that supports economic growth and strengthens connections across the region.”
Mayor Jack Van Rijn said the Town is pleased to support an initiative that reflects feedback heard directly from residents through ongoing community engagement efforts.
“Through public engagement and community feedback, we know there is a strong desire for events and programs that bring people together and activate our public spaces,” said Mayor Van Rijn. “Civic Square Plaza was developed with this type of programming in mind as a welcoming gathering place where people can connect, celebrate, and enjoy community life. A Farmers’ Market is a natural fit for that vision and another exciting step toward creating a vibrant downtown experience.”
The Coaldale Farmers’ Market is gaining strong momentum through partnerships with local businesses, industry leaders, and community organizations. Contributions from organizations such as McCain Foods and the Coaldale & District Agriculture Society are helping lay the foundation for a vibrant and sustainable program that will continue to grow and benefit the region for years to come.
“McCain is proud to be the Title Sponsor of the Coaldale Chamber Farmers’ Market,” said Shawn O’Rourke, Plant Manger Plant 2. “As a company rooted in agriculture, we believe in supporting the communities where we live and work. This market is a wonderful initiative that brings people together and creates real opportunities for local growers, makers, and entrepreneurs. We’re excited to be part of its inaugural season.”
“It creates a welcoming space where local growers, makers, and businesses can connect directly with residents and visitors, and we’re proud to support an initiative that highlights local agriculture and strengthens community connections,” said Brody Curtis of the Coaldale & District Agriculture Society.
Community volunteer and committee member Kim Morris shared her excitement about helping bring the initiative to life.
“I am so excited to see Coaldale have its own Farmers’ Market,” said Morris. “It’s an opportunity for our unique blend of growers, makers, and bakers to showcase the very best of what they have to offer in an incredible outdoor setting. Being part of the committee has been incredibly rewarding, and it’s been amazing to see the passion, collaboration, and community support behind making this event happen.”
The Coaldale Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking sponsorship support from local businesses, organizations, and community partners to help grow something special in Coaldale. This is just the beginning of an exciting long-term vision to create a vibrant community destination that celebrates local business, agriculture, and community connection. Sponsorship opportunities will support programming, promotion, operations, and the continued growth of the market for years to come.
Launching June 25, the Civic Square Plaza will come alive every other Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. as the Coaldale Farmers’ Market transforms downtown Coaldale into a vibrant destination filled with fresh products, handcrafted goods, delicious food, live community energy, and local connections. Residents and visitors alike are invited to experience an exciting new tradition that celebrates the businesses, products, and most importantly, the people who make Southern Alberta unique.
