Drafting Technologist

JOB SUMMARY

Drafting Technologist provides engineering designs, drawings, and related technical information for ITB’s

units.

LOCATION

Our Coaldale, AB plant is located just off highway 3 and is an easy commute from Lethbridge or Taber.

We currently have 125 employees and are continuing to expand.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Drafting:

• Create production and proposal drawing packages from written sales orders, transportation
• Verify chassis dimensions for all designs to ensure accuracy and implement corrections when
• Operate CAD and Autodesk Inventor 3D programs, and other software programs

legislation, and customer specifications in accordance with corporate standardsnecessaryo Inventor, AutoCAD, LoadXpert, Vault Basic, Microsoft Office, Nastran In-CAD (FEA

software)

• Create an accurate and detailed LoadXpert weight studies
• Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on engineered required designs for Engineer review,
• Follow all design standards and procedures that are set in place
• Record and document any changes to designs during the build and Vault completed projects
• ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) documentation, implementation, and maintenance

approval, and seal

Production Department:

• Provide accurate and thorough drawings independently
• Consistently achieve accurate model and drawings
• Verify all information pertaining to critical components of each design
• Consistently update and maintain shop drawings during the build
• Provide most up to date drawings to production
• Provide an accurate as-built set of drawings at time of build completion
• Answer any questions from production staff pertaining to the design

Purchasing Department:

• Provide accurate and thorough Bill of Materials (BOM)
• Provide any extra research info if necessary
• Review of all BOM’s in drawings (Part #, size, description)
• Answer any questions from purchasing staff pertaining to the design
• Provide detailed proposal and/or approval drawings
• Provide visual and technical support for each project
• Provide detailed estimate weight studies
• Review and mark up sales orders to reflect what needs to be built, and minimize discrepancies

Sales Department:on the shop floor

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

• 5 years experience in a professional setting is preferred
• Enhanced knowledge using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and MS Office suites
• Experience in manufacturing or construction design required
• Experience in the Finite Element Analysis (FEA): or equivalent
• Knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) preferred, but not required
• Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or equivalent
• ASET Certification preferred, but not necessary
• Autodesk Certification preferred, but not necessary

Education:

WORKING HOURS

• Permanent Full-Time
• Core hours are Mon-Fri 8:00 am – 4:30 p.m.
• Optional Over-Time Hrs Available
